Paul Bettany surprised fans at Marvel’s New York Comic Con panel by teasing the return of Vision in the Disney+ series VisionQuest, targeted for 2026. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum described VisionQuest as the third part of a loose trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.

The panel set the tone for a big Marvel TV year ahead. Bettany said the pitch for VisionQuest was fantastic and gripping, hinting at a character journey that pushes Vision into new emotional territory.

Where Vision’s Story Left Off

Vision has not appeared in live action since the WandaVision finale. In that episode, a rebuilt White Vision regained the original Vision’s memories, including the experiences inside the Hex. But he struggled to connect to those memories. He then flew away, leaving his next steps unknown.

Bettany explained that White Vision carries all the data of his past, but not the feelings tied to it. VisionQuest will follow his attempt to connect memory to emotion, to reconcile who he was and who he is now. Or, as Bettany joked, to do so with lasers.

What the NYCC Footage Showed

The trailer screened at the panel reportedly opens with a human-looking Vision arriving at a white mansion, without makeup or visible synthezoid features. He meets several servants, including figures representing well-known Marvel AI assistants: J.A.R.V.I.S., E.D.I.T.H., and F.R.I.D.A.Y., all appearing in human form.

Vision is then haunted by memories of his past self. He watches his own death from Avengers: Infinity War play on a screen, and later notices a carved “W+V” heart, a nod to Wanda and Vision’s love story. The footage teases both heady sci-fi and deeply personal moments.

James Spader, the voice of Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, appears in the trailer in human form, sporting a large beard. The footage ends with Vision, alongside Spader’s character, watching screens that show his now-adult son Tommy, played by Ruaridh Mollica.

How VisionQuest Fits the Trilogy

Marvel positions VisionQuest as a thematic follow-up to WandaVision and Agatha All Along. WandaVision explored grief, love, and identity through a stylized sitcom framework. Agatha All Along expanded that world with magic and consequences. VisionQuest seems set to dive into the nature of personhood, asking what makes a self when memories and feelings are out of sync.

Expect blendings of sci-fi mystery, character-led drama, and MCU lore. The trailer’s mansion and human-form AIs suggest a mindscape or a constructed reality where Vision must test what is real and what is recall.

Daredevil: Born Again Reunion Teased

Krysten Ritter also surprised the NYCC crowd, teasing a return as Jessica Jones in season two of Daredevil: Born Again. Ritter said she learned she would be back long ago and had to keep it quiet. She described reuniting with Charlie Cox as surreal, warm, and natural, noting their friendship and strong on-screen chemistry.

Fans in the room said it felt big and celebratory, the kind of crossover energy that defined the best moments of Marvel Television’s earlier era and that many hoped to see return in the Disney+ age.

What to Watch For Next

The cause of Vision’s reappearance and the rules of his reality are central mysteries for VisionQuest. Look for answers about how White Vision processes restored memories and whether Wanda’s influence, AI constructs, or known foes are shaping his path. If Ultron is back in any form, that raises the stakes for Vision’s autonomy.

On the Daredevil side, expect official casting confirmations and dates for Born Again season two, as well as details on Jessica Jones’ role. With NYCC momentum, Marvel will likely share more teases in coming weeks.
